About Us
Canyon County Children's Chorus is a non-profit treble chorus program in Idaho's Treasure Valley. We are dedicated to providing exceptional vocal training and promoting a love for classical choral singing among youth. Our mission is to enhance children’s lives through distinguished choral music education and meaningful performance opportunities throughout the Treasure Valley. We aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where children can grow as musicians and individuals.
Our Choruses
Concert Chorus
Welcome to our premium performing chorus for choristers grades 3 and up. Concert Chorus provides extensive training in vocal technique, breathing, theory, Kodaly sight singing, ear training and the development of performance technique. Concert Chorus sings a wide variety of traditional choral literature in different languages and styles.
Prelude Chorus
Prelude Chorus is our beginner-level chorus for choristers from Kindergarten to 2nd Grade. This chorus focuses on rudimentary music and choral skills such as proper vocal placement, posture, breathing, tonality, rhythm, and singing together as a group. In addition to singing melodies, Prelude choristers learn to sing partner songs, rounds, and simple harmonies.
Meet Our Directors
Concert Chorus Director (Grades 3-8)
Kendra Miyauchi
Kendra Miyauchi, a graduate of NNU and Kent State University, has a master’s degree in music education and has been performing as a pianist, flutist and vocalist since childhood. She has performed lead roles in numerous musicals and operettas and has a decade of experience teaching middle school choir, elementary music, and private piano lessons.
Prelude Chorus Director (Grades K-2)
Kate Haderlie
Kate Haderlie co-founded the Canyon County Children's Chorus in 2023. She is a passionate performing arts educator and community volunteer with over 20 years of experience with theaters and choirs. A graduate of BYU–Idaho, Kate teaches music at Wilson Elementary in Caldwell and composes music for church, choir, and theater.
